Cocozelle Zucchini
I love this zucchini plant so far. It is a very vigorous grower and the flowers are gorgeous! Also, crossing my fingers but it seems to be a good producer from all the blossoms I see. Let’s hope they all pollinate properly so I have a good harvest.
If not, stuff squash blossoms are delicious and I can just eat those. I love to make a filling of cheese that I have on hand (cream chees, ricotta, parmesan) and like to add herbs, sundried tomato to make a filling. Then I stuff the squash blossoms, batter them in a tempura batter and fry them. So delicious!!
Can you spot the baby zucchinis?
Tammy, I am also growing a vigourous variety of zuchinni and was wondering, do you ever have issues with aphids? Last year I couldn't contemplate preparing fried zuchinni blossoms because the flowers were so infested. It occurred to me this morning as I was admiring it that perhaps I should spray it with soapy water now, before the aphids arrive. Any experience in this area? I found your blog while searching for info on Mater Magic. I bought some this weekend and was wondering what others think of this product. Happy gardening and happy blogging!
Hi Christine, I actually have not found any aphids on my squash…knock on wood. we do have ALOT of lady bugs here and I know they love to eat aphids. You can usually find ladybugs at your nursery to help get rid of the problem.
I also heard just a spray of water will get them off.

You know I realized it wasn't aphids that were infesting my zucchini blossoms. It was ants, and they have arrived again this year. To wash them out I fear I'd have to manhandle the blossoms too much to do much of anything with them. Any thoughts?
Tammy, Cocozelle is my old reliable standby when I need a good producer that isn’t fussy about soil, moisture or crowding. They produce heavily and are tasty in all phases, from blossom to huge truncheons.
Su, you are totally right! I grew them my first year and they did so great. I thought it was all me but little did I know, I lucked out on the squash variety 😉
