Lemon Cucumber: female blossom

Lemon Cucumber: female blossom

It is petty easy to differentiate betwee the male and female blossoms if you know what to look for. This is a picture of a female lemon cucumber blossom. You can see what looks like a baby lemon cucumber on the end of the blosson (the green part of blossom). The male flower does not have the green part and is smaller than the female blossom.
Here is a picture of our cucumber set-up. We did not have enough time to build a trellis so we just threw an extra tomato cage around the pot. While we were in the hospital, this plant set over 10 cucumbers that are a few days from being ripe. I think I will make some cucumber salad with rice wine vinegar, serrano peppers, and thinly sliced red onions.
