Carrie Mango

Carrie Mango

Here is some information about Carrie Mangos. I got the information from the website of the nursery where I purchased the plants.
The flavor is by far the most outstanding feature of this variety. It has absolutely no fiber; Is extremely rich in flavor, sweet, aromatic and a pure pleasure to eat. You will savor every mouthful! Its compact size makes it an excellent dooryard tree that requires minimal care. Both fruit and tree have little to no problem with fungus or disease. Lack of color and firmness are the only shortcomings of this superb variety. To determine where to pick, look for a subtle yellow color at its base. Do not let the fruit drop from a tree, or it will bruise since it’s completely fiberless. Many people agree that this is the best tasting mango in existence!
Ripening Season: June-July
Plant Size: Dwarf small stature tree, this “condo mango” is an ultra compact grower. The tree is suitable for container growing on a balcony, or planting in a suburban backyard.
Flavor: excellent sweet and tangy, highly aromatic, orange flesh.
Fruit Size: regular ovate, small, 10-12 oz,up to 1 lb
Fruit Color: green to yellow
Fiberless

  1. Hi Lucy,

no, my carrie died. I did get baby mangoes on my lancetilla the first year but pruned them off to allow for more energy to go towards tree growth.

  2. Aw that is too bad. Are you going to try another or do they replace a tree for you?

I am in Texas and it is high time that I get some even though it will be container plants. Can't get decent tasting ones from the store here.

  3. I live in FL but winter in MN. I leave in a few days and do not return to FL till October. I have a Carrie Mango that is only 2-3′ tall and it’s the second year for it. This is the first time fruit has shown up but there is only four on it. I will not be back for six months. Would you suggest picking the fruit to avoid any damage i.e. weight of fruit and or rodents/birds?

    1. Shane to let the Carrie Mango go to waste. Make a neighbor happy. Invite him to pick the fruit just when it starts blushing yellow near the stems. Then, eat within two days of picking for peak flavor.
