Garden Update: August 23, 2009 (4 months)
I have started to neglect my garden as well as my blog. Having 2 boys under the age of 2 will do that to you. I barely have time to harvest everything and have not canned, dried, frozen anything for this winter :(.

Here is the cinder block garden. The tomatoes are doing great. I think they may need some fertilizer or something. They are producing a ton but look a little tired.

We are up to our eyeballs in tomatoes. We shipped some to our family in colorado, given them to multiple friends and family but it looks like we won’t be running out anytime soon.

I pulled out my cocozelle squash because they were not produucing as much and replanted some pattypan sqash (3 hills) for a 2nd planting. I also pulled out the Arava Melon since all the melons had ripened and were eaten.

Here is my marvel striped tomato plant. This plant is a monster and still producing. It is over 7 feet tall and I waanted to take a pic of the top 2 feet to show that there are still a ton of tomatoes. This plant will probably give me in excess of 80 tomatoes.

Some big tomatoes from my black krim and big beef.

My strawberries are doing great and sending out runners. They are delicious.

Here is our wood garden bed. I pulled out my tomato plants because the 7 in the other garden are giving us more tomatoes than we know what to do with. Next year I will only plant 6 or 7 tomatoes. I prepared the soild for my fall planting.

I am going to plant:
Ace Beets
Astro Arugala
Marathon Broccolli
Cauliflower
Swiss chard
Bibb Lettuce
Waldo Peas
My husband put up the pvc pipes which are adjustable so I can cover them with tulle to protect the brassicas from moths and caterpillars.

My yardlong beans. Plants look pretty sad but they produce quite a few beans.
